Due to the natural outcrop of chalk science is focused on the geology since middle of the last century.
Nearly no area of Northern Germany appeared in so many geological scientific researches as Jasmund peninsula. The geological transect includes accumulations from the Cretaceous, Pleistocene and Holocene Period. Furthermore nearly all geological times occur with their typical characteristics in the pleistocene till.
