Hiking day: The Baltic Sea - more than just the sea

Brackish water, the nation's bathtub, a natural and economic area. And what do you associate with the Baltic Sea? Accompanied by breathtaking views of the Baltic Sea, we walk along the Hochuferweg from Sassnitz to the KÖNIGSSTUHL National Park Centre. We will discover the secrets, the origins, the challenges and, above all, the life of the youngest of all seas. And what can you do to help protect the Baltic Sea? We want to find answers to these questions together. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to explore the adventure exhibition in the house with an audio guide and learn more about the diverse habitats in Jasmund National Park.

What you can expect:

• 6 to 6.5-hour hike with a guide on the topics of the formation of the Baltic Sea, habitat, environmental pollution and conservation initiatives
• Two official descents to the beach

Afterwards:

• Independent visit to the indoor adventure exhibition with audio guide
• Multivision cinema with the UNESCO World Heritage film "The Voice of the Forest" by and with Dirk Steffens
• View from the barrier-free Skywalk
• Individual exploration of the outdoor area with discovery stations and playground

• Offer suitable for children and young people aged 7-13
• Number of participants per group: min. 10 max. 30 pupils
• Duration of hike: 5 to 6 hours, including a break at the World Heritage Forum hiking base
• Possible languages of the guide depending on availability: German, English
• Starting point: Wedding bus turning loop in Sassnitz
• End point: KÖNIGSSTUHL National Park Centre
• Break with WC facilities and refreshments after 1/3 of the route
