Short guided tour

News about the National Park, facts concerning the UNESCO Heritage Site, fossils for touching, and answers to all your questions – all this and more is available during the 25-minute introductory guided tour by a member of our expert staff.

Redwood tree

Jasmund in the year 1850: Artists of the Romantic period, inspired by the chalk cliffs of  Ruegen, begin making a name for themselves. The sculptor R. Begas visits the Koenigsstuhl with a three-metre-long redwood sapling in tow. Today, this tree towers over the beech forest of the peninsula.

Climbing the tree tops

This climbing adventure takes you from one gnarly tree trunk to the next, connected by beams, ropes and chains. All year round, you can climb, practice balancing, swing from branch to branch or just relax.

Sunny terraces

Enjoy a break after hiking through the woods, visiting our exhibition or seeing the film in the cinema. You can quench your thirst, choose a delicious snack or order from the grill in the National Park bistro while relaxing a sunny terrace.

View to the Heritage

The Ancient Beech Forest lies protected within the National Park. A narrow strip of ancient forest borders the National Park Centre. The view from the UNESCO window gives insight into this miracle of nature.

Artist‘s meadow

A heavenly swing and other fanciful playground equipment can be found just above the steep chalk cliff. Right next door,  in the shade of the ancient beeches, there is a big easel set up for the famous painting by Caspar David Friedrich, „Chalk cliffs on Ruegen“. In the summer, creative and diverse activities take place on the Artist‘s meadow!

Please note: A large part of the Artist's Meadow is currently designated as a construction site. The sky swing and the easel can still be visited.
